Job Description

We are looking for a Polysomnographer (Registered) for the AMG SRMH Sleep Center at St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare.

Location: Santa Rosa, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time - 72 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 12-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Manager, this position works independently and conducts polysomnographic testing. The PSGT safely operates sophisticated medical equipment used to record sleep/wake physiology, explains procedures, prepares patients and applies recording devices. Key responsibilities include monitoring polygraph recordings and audio/visual equipment to ensure patient safety, test quality, sleep/wake data and other physiological events.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs basic and complex polysomnographic procedures, such as baseline polysomnography, nasal CPAP/Bi-PAP titration and multiple sleep latency tests (MSLT) and ASV as defined in department policy and procedure.
  • Implements therapeutic procedures such as nasal CPAP and supplemental oxygen administration, and works with patients to ensure CPAP compliance.
  • Applies electrodes and recording devices as defined in departmental policy and procedures and ensure artifact-free recording.
  • Completes procedural and computer documentation as outlined in departmental policy/procedure and obtains/records an appropriate patient history.
  • Prepares entire test for physician interpretation, including stage scoring using Rechtschaffen & Kales criteria and pathology scoring standard guidelines as defined in department policy and procedure.
  • Prepares workplace for next studies by cleaning and maintaining equipment in a professional manner and making up beds with clean linens.


  • Basic computer skills including Windows and an e-mail system.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Experience: 1 year experience as a polysomnographic technologist; 2 years preferred.


  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) in good standing with the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).
  • California Polysomnographic License or Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
  • BLS certification.
  • Membership in Association of Polysomnographic Technologist (APT) or American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) preferred

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education: Associate's Degree in Polysomnography.
