Perform diagnostic MRI examinations while ensuring quality, efficiency, and continuity of patient care and image exam throughput and workflow.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist other techs as needed, ensure quality and efficient clinical workflow, and handle difficult situations as they arise.
Review each examination for technical accuracy, send completed examinations to radiologist, and communicate pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
Identify each patient and review each patient’s exam order, either hard copy or in computer system, for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information, including physician’s name and signature, patient’s name and date of birth.
Participate in the daily operation and record-keeping of MRI Department to maintain ACR accreditation. Maintain established hospital and department policies. Abide by the VVMC Code of Conduct practices. Maintain expert knowledge and practice of MRI patient safety. Abide by all VVMC patient safety policy and procedures.
Accurately use the HIS and PACS computer systems to document patient information.
Monitor supply inventory and notify appropriate staff for ordering when stock is low. Keep exam and dressing rooms stocked and neat.
Maintain constructive collaborative communication with patients, patient's family, physicians, co-workers and other members of health care team to contribute to continuity of care.
Safely perform all MRI examinations according to VVMC exam protocols and ACR guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.
1-2 years of previous MRI Tech experience preferred. Previous experience in healthcare required.
Licensed for MRI's with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association Reqiured.
