Swedish Medical Center is looking for an Occupational Therapist (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) to work in Pediatric Therapy Services at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

The pediatric rehabilitation services occupational therapist delivers and supervises others in the delivery of services to children, birth to 18 years old. Services provided upon referral include evaluations, developing individual treatment plans to maximize functional outcomes, implementation of the treatment program, reassessment of treatment results and discharge planning. Services are delivered within the framework of a team approach, appropriate disciplines, and family centered, involving family, caregivers and patient. These services are delivered in compliance with ethical standards, policies and procedures, national and professional standards, state practice acts for occupational therapists, and current accepted state of the art practice.

In this position you will:

  • Perform thorough age-related evaluations according to protocol which are relevant to patient diagnosis and current scientific and clinical knowledge.
  • Interpret evaluation data to identify functional deficits and barriers to function and define current functional status.
  • Refer patients with problems outside the scope of practice to appropriate discipline(s).
  • Establish and modify realistic, measurable, timely and functional goals, with the input of the family and patient, related to discharge planning.
  • Manage and modify treatments to maximize patient functional outcomes based on the patient’s physical, developmental and psychological responses as well as changes in discharge planning.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • 1 year In an acute pediatric internship program, or two (2) years in a pediatric experience in a related setting.
  • Valid Washington State Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapist Temporary Permit or Occupational Therapist Limited Permit required.*New graduates qualify for temporary practice if they have complied with the Washington State Department of Health WAC 246-847-115.
  • Current registration with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).
