Providence is calling an Cardiovascular Technologist (Cardiovascular, Variable, 0.0 FTE) to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. In this position you will:

  • Maintain and promote positive, open and honest interpersonal relationships with customers (physicians, employees, visitors, patients, and other PSHMC publics). Provide high quality service to all customers; focuse on understanding customers’ needs and follows through.   • Promote and demonstrate effective, open and honest written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrate good stewardship of resources by treating property of customers, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and co-workers with care and respect
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of staff and other disciplines for problem solving without blaming
  • Demonstrate flexibility by readily adapting to different situations to complete work
  • Scrub, monitor and circulate on the following procedures considering the age and culture of the patient:
  • Diagnostic Cardiac Catheterization (LHC, BHC, RHC)
  • Interventional Cardiac Procedures (PTCA/Stent, Brachytherapy, Atherectomy)
  • Pacemakers/Internal defibrillators
  • Intra-aortic balloon
  • Percutaneous balloon Valvuloplasty
  • Pediatric catheterization
  • Coil and closure devices
  • Temporary Pacemakers
  • Endomyocardial Biopsy
  • Peripheral vascular diagnostic and interventional studies
  • Insertion arterial/venous line, central line, Swan-Ganz, Vas Cath
  • Sheath removal and puncture site dressing
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance, as specified by the manufacturer, of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment used for procedures
  • Recognize basic rhythms and hemodynamic pressure tracings
  • Clean room, empty linen and show proper disposal of instrument trays
  • Provide patient/family education pre- and post procedure
  • Correctly check name and allergy bans, obtain initial patient assessment and information
  • Adapt procedures to meet individual needs of neonates (0-1 month) infants (1 month to age 1) toddlers (1-2 years), preschoolers (3-5 years), school age (6-12 years) of adolescents (ages 13-17) and adult patients including early adult (ages 18-35) middle adult (ages 36-65) and older adult (ages 66 ) patients for treatment and selects equipment/supplies considering patient’s age, size, pre-existing conditions and procedures to be performed
  • Correctly label all medications/ drugs/ contrast on sterile table and administers medications as asked by the physician, verifying all medications
  • Able to handle emergency situations during high risk procedures
  • Able to work as a team member, assist physicians and assist with interpretation of data collected
  • Notify physician of rhythm changes during procedure
  • Know location of procedure room equipment and supplies
  • Stock procedure rooms and maintains adequate stock levels
  • Maintain radiation safety for patient and visitors
  • Wear radiation protection and film badge consistently
  • Check personal radiation protection (lead apron) annually, documenting result and notifying supervisor of defective equipment
  • Maintain proper sterile technique
  • Accurately document in Op-report, Witt Log, Optiflex billing and chart
  • Accurately bills procedures and supplies
  • Correctly witnesses drug waste with CVRN
  • Transfer images to Xcelera at the end of each case and make hard copy CD of procedure
  • Position patients in a manner which is safe, utilizing the appropriate safe patient handling equipment and technique, allowing patients to be comfortable both physically and emotionally
  • May transport patients to and from departments utilizing proper techniques of body mechanics to protect patients and personal safety


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Cardiovascular Technology OR 5 years of experience
  • Must apply for and obtain a Washington State Department of Health Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Certification upon hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) completed annually
  • Current ACLS
