The MA/Scribe performs transcription functions by shadowing a provider and taking notes in the electronic medical record and records the history of present illness, medical history, review of systems, positive findings from the physical exam and the provider's impression. Accurately and thoroughly documents in the patient’s medical record only information that is verbalized (i.e. word for word) by the physician and/or independent licensed practitioners for whom he or she is scribing. The Transcriber will also put together follow-up letters. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of a Medical Assistant (MA) program required. Minimum one year of Medical Assistant experience required, preferably in a Plastic Surgery medical office. Medical Assistant (MA) certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required. Completion of Dermatology Nursing Association (DNA) and Phototherapy training within one year of date of hire required.
Able to: read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
