Job Description

We are looking for a Respiratory Care Practitioner for the Respiratory Therapy HH Department at NorCal HealthConnect.

Location: Healdsburg, CA

Work Schedule: Full Time - 72 Biweekly Hours

Shift: 12-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Provide therapeutic/diagnostic modalities, under physician's direction, and in accordance with hospital policies and practice standards. Plays a key role in the educational process for the quality of respiratory care and cardiology services provided.

Essential Functions:

  • Applies the principles of patient rights and addresses ethical issues in the provision of patient care.
  • Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of respiratory care procedures through patient outcomes.
  • Appropriately applies respiratory care procedures per policy and procedures i.e., appropriate care of ventilator patient in ICU, Perioperative, Emergency Department, and Sub-acute.
  • Actively participates as a member of the healthcare team to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs by:
  • Developing accurate/appropriate patient care plans in a timely manner.
  • Communicating and collaborating with the Registered Nurse in a consistent manner throughout the shift to prioritize/implement the patient’s Plan of Care.
  • Charts accurate, timely information regarding respiratory care/outcomes for patients.
  • Consistently practices universal precautions.
  • Utilizes supplies in an appropriate, cost efficient manner.
  • Effectively trouble-shoots respiratory care equipment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform all cardiology procedures.
  • Demonstrates effective knowledge of responsibility in cardiac/respiratory arrest; serves on Code Blue and Code White Teams.
  • Conduct physician prescribes treatments of a routine nature.
  • Perform chest physical therapy treatments which involve percussion, postural drainage or suctioning; perform airway management including trach tube changes, intubation or extubation, and set up, operate, and monitor of ventilators/BiPAP/CPAP.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform bronchoscopy and PFTs.
  • Stroke Program-Takes an Active role in job specific stroke education and training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the department’s objectives.


  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Working knowledge of physiology, the respiratory systems and arterial blood gas analysis.
  • Ability to perform a patient assessment and correctly manage all respiratory equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions that are professional and technical in nature.
  • Computer literate.
  • Preferred: The ability to speak Spanish

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education: Coursework/Training - Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program.

Experience: Practical clinical experience in an acute and/or skilled hospital setting. New graduates may be accepted with appropriate preceptor and in accordance with hospital business decisions.


  • Current California RCP License.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Current PALS certification

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience: 1 year practical experience as a RCP in an acute and/or skilled hospital setting.
