This position is responsible for ensuring drug study medication safety, patient safety, and local, state, national, and federal regulatory compliance for all medication-related medical center research. The position also performs staff pharmacist duties.

Ensures drug study medication safety, patient safety, and local, state, national, and federal regulatory compliance for all medication-related medical center research.
Coordinates all inpatient and the majority of our outpatient drug studies. This responsibility includes, but is not limited to, setting up study drug binder for each study, ensuring that information and drug is available when and where it is required, and that all drug tracking forms are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Communicates with drug sponsor (company) study monitors, as needed, and responding to pharmacy-related requests from monitors in a timely manner
Tracks ongoing service activity, including any billing for IDS pharmacy services
Represents the Pharmacy Department as a member of the Clinical Research Committee (CRC).
Performs all duties of Staff Pharmacist (Job Code 20000-30021-000222). Reviews written medication orders and prescriptions to determine appropriate ingredients, strength, and dosage. Reviews the medication selected relative to potential allergies, food/drug interactions, route of administration, toxicity, and adverse drug reactions with other medications ordered. Contacts the prescriber, as appropriate, to clarify orders and/or make recommendations concerning alternate therapies. Prepares and/or supervises technical staff in the preparation of intravenous admixture solutions, including chemotherapeutic agents, using aseptic technique.
Prepares and supervises technical staff in the preparation of intravenous admixture solutions and chemotherapeutic agents, using acceptable aseptic technique and in compliance with regulatory guidelines (e.g. USP<797>).
Provides drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff where appropriate and upon request.
Documents clinical activities accurately and according to policies and procedures.
Identifies and/or involved with opportunities for improvement or key Departmental initiatives (i.e. innovative ideas, expense reduction, projects, task or project lead).
The minimum level of education and experience for this position includes:
Current Maryland State Pharmacist License.

Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
