Covenant Health is seeking an On Call / Per Diem Day Shift Patient Care Technician I for the General Medicine - S9 Department at Covenant Medical Center.

Job Summary:

The Patient Care Technician assists patients with activities of daily living and selective procedures delegated and communicated by the licensed nurse. These activities focus on maintaining a safe, hazard free, clean environment which facilitates patient focused care.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs vital signs, I&O, weights, ADLs, meal intake, and other required documentation in an accurate, concise, and timely manner.
  • Reports any changes in patient condition, problematic and unusual circumstances to a licensed nurse promptly.
  • Answers patients call lights and responds to request promptly. Relays information to a licensed nurse promptly as needed.
  • Delivers patients' water and meal trays, assisting the patient as necessary with meals under the direction of a licensed nurse.
  • Provides patient care related to personal care/hygiene, ambulation and comfort.
  • Communicates in a compassionate manner to patients, families, and visitors.
  • Transports patients as directed by the licensed nurse in a safe manner, providing dignity and compassion to the patient at all times.
  • Transports specimens, supplies, equipment, and miscellaneous items as directed.
  • Checks, cleans, and organizes supplies, equipment, and nourishment areas as assigned.
  • Follows all infection control policies and procedures as it relates to patients, equipment, supplies, and other miscellaneous items to include cleaning equipment after each patient use.
  • Demonstrates knowledge, prioritize and completing transcription of patient data in a timely manner. Accurately and efficiently maintains the medical record.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education:

  • Coursework/Training - Successful completion of Patient Care Technician Course (Require certificate of completion from school.)
  • H.S. Diploma or GED

License/Certification: Must achieve BLS (AHA) certification with 30 days of employment.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Education: Coursework/Training - Completion of Certified Nurse Aide Course within 1 year of hire.
