Job Description

We are looking for a Radiologic Technologist for the Prompt Care Department at Queen of the Valley Medical Center.

Location: Napa, CA

Work Schedule: Full time - 80 Biweekly hours

Shift: 10 hour, Days

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Supv, Advanced Practice Clinicians, and with latitude for independent judgment, performs all the professional duties involved in applying ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis at the technical level. Acts in compliance with Federal, State, and Joint Commission standards. Produces and evaluates images and related data to be used by physicians to render medical diagnosis. Performs related clerical tasks and assumes responsibility for coordinating exams performed.

Ages of Patients Served: Infant/Toddler (0-3), Children (4-12), Adolescent (13-20), Adult (21-64), Geriatric (65+)

Employee must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate with and provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Age-specific needs that the employee is required to know and understand will be reviewed and evaluated during job specific/department specific orientations and ongoing thereafter.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyzes patient’s general body type, physical condition, and suspected pathology to set technical factors and adjust specialized radiographic equipment to apply ionizing radiation for the production of prescribed radiographs and fluoroscopy.
  • Practices radiation safety techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff. Adheres to medical center patient safety policies. Identifies patient by checking arm band, verifies written orders, uses proper image identification and marks images correctly.
  • Reviews physician orders and records all pertinent information. Evaluated image quality and necessary documentation.
  • Performs routine quality control, troubleshoots malfunctions, and arranges for equipment service as necessary.
  • Participates in departmental quality assurance.
  • Provides appropriate education for patient, families, and other healthcare providers.
  • Anticipates patient and physician procedural needs.
  • Has access to and administers and/or handles medications according to this position’s license or certification standards and medical center policy.
  • Performs Prompt Care functions of rooming patients, conducts vital signs assessments, point of care testing, registers patients, orders supplies, and enters Prompt Care charges. Covers front and back office meal breaks when not conducting radiographic procedures.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education : Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement


  • Current California license for Radiologic Technology (CRT-R).
  • Current Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiology - ARRT(R).
  • Current BLS certification
