Job Description

We are looking for a Mammography Technologist for the Mammography Department at St. Joseph Hospital Orange.

Location Orange, CA

Work Schedule: On Call/ Per Diem

Shift: 8-hour, Days

Job Summary:

Performs screening, diagnostic and interventional mammography procedures. Operates mammography equipment. Develops films and coordinates patient care with other patient services.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs mammography procedures utilizing mammography radiographic equipment; correlates procedure with patient history; demonstrates proper positioning techniques as well as the ability to set equipment technical factors.
  • Maintains patient records; completes all required paperwork for each procedure; completes patient charges.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of all mammography and stereotactic systems operation.
  • Quality Assurance and Control (QA/QC); performing and recording daily, weekly, monthly, and semi-annual tests on the equipment to ensure that it is functioning within manufacture specifications/guidelines.
  • Reports any equipment malfunctions to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Ensures adequate stock of supplies.
  • May be required to learn and perform breast ultrasound procedures.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize pathology and respond according to the mammography protocols.


  • Computer Skills.
  • Verbal, written and interpersonal communications.
  • Medical Terminology knowledge.
  • Ability to function in an environment that includes varying, unpredictable or crisis circumstances while exercising appropriate interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • Technical skills including proper patient positioning and selection of proper technical factors to ensure high quality mammographic images.

Minimum Position Requirements:

Education : Coursework/Training - Successful completion of an accredited radiologic technology program.

Experience: 1 year - experience as a radiologic technologist.


  • Current California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in Mammography.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
