Covenant Health is seeking a full time, day shift Cath Lab Technologist, Interventional Radiology with the Cath Lab Department at Covenant Medical Center.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Technical Manager, assists the physician in obtaining high quality diagnostic studies and completion of interventional procedures by safe and skilled operation of all X-ray related equipment, and by ensuring proper performance of all X-ray related equipment. Minimal supervision required.

Essential Functions:

  • Operates all X-ray related equipment including single plane or biplane units, digital subtraction modalities, IVUS, lasers, rotablator, power injectors and processors for the completion of angiographic studies and interventional procedures, while protecting the sterile field. Assists the physician in obtaining high quality diagnostic images for diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, including quantitative coronary analysis, and ejection fraction analysis.
  • Performs quality control activities accurately on all X-ray related equipment, as assigned. Troubleshoots problems and communicates effectively with the manager and service personnel. Thoroughly documents all problems and solutions in equipment logs. Cleans and maintains equipment on a regular basis.
  • Maintains quality, availability, security and confidentiality of patient studies through processing and labeling and storage of digital patient tapes and archive tapes, post-processing, copying of tapes and/or burning of CD's for referring physicians and research or other appropriate purpose. Creates cine films from digital videotapes when requested for core research labs.
  • Verifies patient identification, diagnosis and history for all diagnostic and interventional studies, and properly executes computer order entry and completion for diagnostic X-rays. Maintains a minimal repeat rate.
  • Assures that all team members understand and comply with principles of Radiation Safety, including distance, shielding, time limits, proper care and wear of lead aprons and dosimetry badges.
  • Assists with comprehensive operation of the Cath Lab by readily participating in efficient room turnover, patient transport, shave preps, sheath removal and establishment of hemostasis, terminal cleaning, cost containment and quality improvement activities.
  • Takes emergency call, as assigned, on a rotational basis with other personnel in the same job description.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education :

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.


  • Registered as an Radiologic Technologist with the American Registry.
  • Certified by the Texas Department of Health.
  • Must obtain BLS (AHA) within 30 days from employment date.

Preferred Position Qualifications:

Experience :

  • 1 year of experience the field of Radiology.
  • Experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Special Procedures Lab.


  • ACLS.
  • Cardiovascular Interventional Technology (CIT) registry from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist registry from Cardiovascular Credentialing International, Inc.
