MCVP Psychiatry is seeking a full time Behavior Health Counselor - Child. This position is a consultative role supporting the central region of the Virginia Mental Health Access Program (VMAP). VMAP provides consultative services to PCPs across the state to support their patient’s mental and behavioral health needs. The Behavior Health Counselor will provide direct clinical care, primarily for ages 3-17 on an outpatient basis with some rotational coverage on inpatient pediatric psychiatry at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children. Clinical services include initial psychosocial/diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, and the implementation of evidenced based therapeutic interventions for individual, family, and group services. Incumbent will have access to other therapists, physicians, nurses, and pharmacists when needed for clinical collaboration. The position may also be assigned to provide VCUHS HelpLink EAP services as designated.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current Virginia license as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, or Clinical Social Worker
Minimum of three (3) years post licensure experience providing initial psychiatric evaluations and psychotherapy in an outpatient setting
One (1) year of previous experience providing EAP services
Previous experience providing threat assessments and fitness for work evaluations
Experience in providing substance use / addictions services.
Masters or Doctoral level education in the field of psychology, social work, or counseling from an accredited program
