The Medical Assistant/Patient Service Representative, Ortho FMO, functions as assigned under the supervision of the Clinic Manager 1. As Medical Assistant, performs patient oriented procedures with the ability to work with and evaluate specific age groups and tasks at all Orthopedic Surgery Clinics within the scope of their education and training and under the supervision of a physician or licensed staff person. As a Patient Service Representative, monitors and controls patient flow for check-in, check-out and appointment procedures. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED Required. Satisfactory completion of approved Medical Assistant training course required. Minimum one year experience in outpatient clinic front and back office duties required.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within thirty (30) days of hire and must be maintained.
Extensive knowledge of Orthopedic terminology, with emphasis on group subspecialties preferred. Knowledge of medical insurance requirements, ICD and CPT codes preferred. Proficient computerized scheduling knowledge. Able to: read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
