The Medical Assistant/Patient Service Representative functions under the supervision of the Clinic Manager and/or Lead LVN, managing patient flow for check-in, check-out, and appointment procedures as assigned. Under the supervision of a physician or licensed staff person, performs patient-oriented procedures and tasks within the scope of their education and training. The MA/PSR demonstrates exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and efficiency. All activities must be conducted in a confidential, professional and personable manner. Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of a Medical Assistant program required. Minimum six months of customer service, general office or receptionist vocational training experience required. Minimum six months of medical field experience preferred. Medical Assistant Certificate or National MA Certification required. Phlebotomy or blood draw training preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification approved by the American Heart Association required.
Knowledgeable and trained in ICD and CPT coding preferred. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.
