Position Summary

The Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician performs a variety of different testing procedures in the disciplines of hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, serology, microbiology, and transfusion services to provide information for use in the diagnosis and treatment of hospital inpatients and outpatients. The MT/MLT rotates weekends and holidays as well as second and third shifts as scheduled.

Minimum Requirements

• Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologists must be graduates of an accredited school for Medical Laboratory Technicians (2-year) or Medical Technology (4-year) and be eligible to take the ASCP certification examination (or equivalent).

• Level II or III preferred, not required

• Other routes to qualify include grand fathering through a governmental agency, HHS or HEW, or military training in clinical laboratory medicine or equivalent education and training.

Must be able to occasionally work on weekends
