About Vidant Edgecombe Hospital
Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, formerly Heritage Hospital, is a full-service, 110-bed acute care facility where residents of Tarboro, Edgecombe county and surrounding communities receive a wide range of health services close to home. Our partnership with Vidant Health enhances our wide range of services and improves the quality of care our patients receive. More than 20 specialties are represented by Vidant Edgecombe Hospital's medical staff, assuring the people of Edgecombe county that almost all their health needs can be met right here at home. In addition to acute care, our services include rehabilitation, oncology and outpatient clinics.
Position Summary
The Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician performs a variety of different testing procedures in the disciplines of hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, serology, microbiology, and transfusion services to provide information for use in the diagnosis and treatment of hospital inpatients and outpatients. The MT/MLT rotates weekends and holidays as well as second and third shifts as scheduled.
Minimum Requirements
Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologists must be graduates of an accredited school for Medical Laboratory Technicians (2-year) or Medical Technology (4-year) and be eligible to take the ASCP certification examination (or equivalent).
Level II or III preferred, not required
Other routes to qualify include grand fathering through a governmental agency, HHS or HEW, or military training in clinical laboratory medicine or equivalent education and training.
