Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, formerly Heritage Hospital, is a full-service, 110-bed acute care facility where residents of Tarboro, Edgecombe county and surrounding communities receive a wide range of health services close to home. Our partnership with Vidant Health enhances our wide range of services and improves the quality of care our patients receive. More than 20 specialties are represented by Vidant Edgecombe Hospital's medical staff, assuring the people of Edgecombe county that almost all their health needs can be met right here at home. In addition to acute care, our services include rehabilitation, oncology and outpatient clinics.
Position Summary
As the Microbiology Lead Tech, you will be responsible for day-to-day oversight of the Microbiology operation and testing. Must ensure efficient and effective departmental operations to maintain regulatory compliance, including CAP proficiency testing, quality control, quality assurance, inventory management, and policy and procedural updates. The Microbiology Lead Tech would monitor and evaluate processes and recommend improvements when necessary.
In this role, you should exhibit critical thinking skills and be proficient in microorganism identification and susceptibility testing. You would be the technical resource person, providing staff orientation, training, and coordination of activities for the continuous improvement of operations for the department. Will routely rotate through the departements in the Laboratory, performing vaious procedures in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, serology, and blood bank to provide information for use in the diagnosis and treatment of hopsital patients and outpatients. The Microbiology Lead Tech must develop and maintain a positive and effective working relationship with all hospital departments, employees and medical staff.
Minimum Requirements
Graduated from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician or Technology program is required.
Successful completion of MT ASCP, MLT ASCP or HEW examination with a minimum of four 4 years of clinical laboratory experience in the following disciplines:
Hematology
Coagulation
Urinalysis
Blood Bank
Serology
Chemistry
Special Chemistry
Microbiology
Phlebotomy
Previous supervisory or management experience is preferred but not required.
