Vidant Medical Transport provides critical care air and ground service to areas within 150 miles of Greenville, North Carolina. We are based at Vidant Medical Center, home of the region's only Level-1 Trauma Center and Children's Hospital. Vidant Medical Transport is nationally recognized for safety, quality and service. We are fully accredited by CAMTS (the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems). Position Summary

  • The Flight Paramedic functions as a member of the critical care transport team and is responsible for the care of critically ill and injured patients transported by Vidant EastCare.
  • Responsibilities include patient care, incorporating assessment, stabilization, and interventional techniques consistent with standards and protocols approved by the Medical Director.
  • The Transport Paramedic is expected to execute independent judgment, in order to deliver appropriate care that is consistent with the clinical protocols, when contact with a medical command physician is not possible.
  • The Transport Paramedic functions as part of a team and shares responsibility for the teams conduct.
  • The Transport Paramedic fulfills education and experiential requirements as established by the Vidant EastCare Medical Director, and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School or equivalent is required.
  • EMT-P training is required.
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, ITLS or PHTLS must be obtained before the end of orientation, One specialty certification for example, FP-C must be obtained within 2 years of hire.
  • 3 years of experience from a high call volume area is required.
