Job Description

ResponsibilitiesNuclear Medicine Technology is a medical specialty that utilizes radioactive materials to make diagnostic evaluation of the anatomic and/or physiologic conditions of the human body and to provide therapeutic treatment with unsealed radioactive sources. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is an allied health professional who, under the direction of a licensed authorized user or license designee, is committed to applying the art and skill of diagnostic evaluation and therapeutics for all ages through safe and effective use of radionuclides. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: patient interviews, instruction, and care, preparation, quality control, calibration, and administration of radiopharmaceutical compounds, handling/preparation/witnessing and administration (under direct MD supervision)  of adjunctive medications, execution of patient imaging and therapeutic procedures including computer processing and image enhancement, and laboratory testing. He/She applies knowledge of radiation physics and safety regulations to limit radiation exposure of the general public, patients, fellow workers, and self to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA). Personal and professional development is achieved through participation in medical, technical, and research in order to enhance the quality of patient care. QualificationsA minimum of three years of experience in the day to day operation of the PETCT clinic.   Maintaining dual certification (ARRT (N) with either ARRT CT or NMTCB CT certification or maintaining ARRT (R) and CDPH CRT certification).  The position requires the flexibility to work all shifts as needed.  When requested by the Director of Operations, this employee may be asked to report to offsite satellite clinics in order to assist in setup/startup functions as well as assist in establishing clinic operations/workflows and implementation of new imaging protocols.  As requested by the Director of Operations the Associate Chief Technologist-PETCT may be asked to rotate to provide coverage in instances of sick leave or vacation coverage.   UCLA is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
