Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Responsible for overseeing a clinical section of the laboratory. Will organize all work and review all results reported for that designated area. Will maintain and review all Quality control records, proficiency testing programs, policies and instrument maintenance records. Responsible for maintaining an adequate but not oversupply, of inventory of reagents and supplies. Responsible for the evaluation of new instrumentation and test methods. Responsible for the Performance Appraisals of the staff working in this section. Responsible for Performance Improvement studies for section. Responsible for the assisting with the budget and Goals and Objectives of the specific section of the laboratory. Performs all procedures in area of responsibility. Communicates critical values. Oversees training of new employees in the section of responsibility. May serve as overall lab Charge person at times.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

Minimum of four (4) years experience in a clinical laboratory which includes at least one (1) year of concentrated experience in the area of responsibility and at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Education:

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited University or Medical Technology program.

Licenses/Certifications:

Registry certification – MT(ASCP), (AMT), (NCA) or equivalent.

Knowledge/Skills:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Physical Requirements: Light-Medium Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
