Responsibilities
The Registered Dietician (RD) – Per Diem is responsible for delivering the Nutrition element of the UCLA Ornish Lifestyle Medicine Program and monitoring the nutritional adequacy of each participant. This position serves as the backup to the regular, career RD2. The RD – Per Diem will provide the following on an “as needed” basis: Nutrition education, counseling, and coaching to participants in accordance to the Ornish Program’s Nutrition prescription and guidelines; baseline nutrition consultation that addresses pertinent nutrition related clinical or psychosocial needs; participant adherence or noncompliance to the nutrition guidelines; documentation on the education, consults, weekly adherence, and goals; and attends and participates in weekly team meetings when needed. Qualifications* Required Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in Nutrition * Registered Dietitian license * BLS * Preferred Qualifications * Experience working with heart disease, diabetes, and plant-based nutrition * Experience in coaching individuals in making sustainable lifestyle changes * Knowledgeable about research and the role of dietary factors in heart disease, and exhibits an ability to explain these concepts clearly to participants * Excellent public speaking skills and knowledge of adult education * Excellent interpersonal communication skills with sensitivity to participant needs * Excellent organizational skills * Excellent computer skills * Desire and willingness to collaborate as a member of a high-functioning transdisciplinary team that supports personal transformation UCLA is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
