Novant Health is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist Emergency Department, to join our acute care pharmacy team, to deliver optimal medication management across all dimensions of care, every time. The Emergency Department Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical pharmacy services for the ED and all associated areas (eg. Pediatrics, Trauma, Urgent Care) including pharmacokinetic and therapeutic consultation. Emergency Department on second shift 7 on/7off rotation.

Essential functions include:

• A Pharmacist is responsible for performance and/or supervision of various aspects of the medication use system including but not limited to: therapeutic recommendations, advocate for patient safety, preparation, distribution, monitoring, oversight of administration, and billing. This practitioner will be primarily based in the Emergency Department and may cross-cover other areas as needed. The pharmacist’s focus is on the quality of care through comprehensive medication management.

• Emergency and/or critical care experience
• Residency training PGY1 and PGY2
• Facilitates pharmaceutical care services, medication utilization systems within assigned services and care areas to ensure drug utilization activities are aligned with patient care needs, evidence- based best practices and regulatory standards
• Completes critical patient monitoring and reviews patient profile/ chart to identify, prevent, or mitigate drug- related problems,
• Partners as an active member of multidisciplinary team and collaborates with healthcare providers within decentralized patient care areas to provide patient- centered care
• Makes appropriate evidence-based, patient- centered medication recommendations
• Participates in the management of medical emergencies
• Provides discharge medication review, reconciliation, and counseling as appropriate
• Maintains proficiency in and actively engages in central dispensing functions and operational programs
• Oversees pharmacy operations and technician practice/activities
• Maintains proficiency in preceptor roles and actively emulates education/ mentorship skills

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required. Doctorate of Pharmacy preferred.
• Experience: Postgraduate year 1 residency or fellowship OR two years of experience as a registered pharmacist in healthcare system pharmacy required. Emergency department experience strongly preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacy licensure in appropriate state(s) Required or must be completed within 30 days of start date by either examination or reciprocity, required. Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification or other applicable certification Required or must be obtained and continuously maintained within 2 years of start date as applicable to the role; excludes PRN team members who may not be eligible to take certification exam, required.
• Additional Skills Required: Other duties as outlined in Novant Health and facility specific policies and procedures. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to work as part of a high performing, change ready and resilient team.
