Vidant Medical Center is a 900+ bed Level-1 Trauma Center, regional referral hospital and is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health. We serve as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Vidant Medical Center provides acute, intermediate, rehabilitation and outpatient services to more than 1.4 million people in 29 counties. Position Summary
Responsibility, accountability and decision-making authority for facilitating the implementation of systems, programs and strategic initiatives that advance occupational health capability.
Develops and aligns strategies, initiatives, supporting infrastructure, and budgets that enable a department(s) to achieve results that align with established quality imperatives to create and sustain operational excellence.
Communicates department(s) objectives to staff to ensure understanding of goals and their alignment. Oversees department(s) initiatives and operations, including staff, budget, and vendor management.
Measures effectiveness and take steps to ensure continuous improvement of department performance. Facilitates change to advance the organization and uses resources and operational practices to drive execution of plans.
Ensures that policies, procedures and practices are followed to support a safety culture, evidence based care, high reliability, performance improvement and transparency. Accountable for a positive organizational culture in decision making and performance management to influence work attitudes and enhance job satisfaction.
Member of entity management teams and functions as a key liaison between the leadership teams, staff and physician partners of the health care facility and programs.
Minimum Requirements
Undergraduate degree in appropriate field is required.
Graduate degree preferred.
Prior management or leadership experience, including involvement in the budgetary process, personnel management and long and short term planning.
4 - 5 years' experience in Employee Health or Occupational Health with 4 or more years leadership and management experience in a health care/complex setting including involvement of budgetary process, personnel management and long and short term planning.
Administrative experience.
Previous experience in Occupational Health required.
One year additional experience may be substituted for one year of required education with a maximum substitution of 2 years.
