Vidant Chowan Hospital
Vidant Chowan Hospital is a modern 25 bed critical access facility located in historic Edenton, North Carolina, and provides services and programs to 45,000 people in 4 counties. Vidant Chowan Hospital's partnership with Vidant Health gives our patients access to state-of-the-art services provided by an academic medical center. Our medical staff includes some of the finest primary care, pediatric, internal medicine physicians and surgeons in the region, and we have a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Position Summary
Technician works under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Laboratory Manager. Performs clinical laboratory tests (Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Serology, Urinalysis and other miscellaneous areas) by standard operating policies and procedures; understands method principles; performs quality control & calibrations; performs preventive maintenance; and analyzes results as to accuracy, acceptability and critical limits. Works according to rotation of schedule when necessary.
Minimum Requirements
The Medical Laboratory Technician must possess an Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science and be registered as a Medical Laboratory Technician, or equivalent, by a nationally approved accrediting agency or be eligible to take such exam for accreditation.
The Medical Technologist must possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology and be registered with a nationally approved accrediting agency, or be eligible to take such exam for accreditation.
Preferred Requirements
1-3 years of laboratory experience and or training
