About Vidant Duplin Hospital

Vidant Duplin Hospital is an 81-bed facility located in Kenansville, North Carolina and has 20 practicing physicians on its active medical staff. Vidant Duplin serves Duplin County and surrounding communities in Eastern North Carolina with a population of approximately 60,000 people. On an annually basis, it serves 3,800 inpatients and over 52,000 outpatients (including nearly 30,0000 ED visits), in addition to a surgical volume of 2,050.

Position Summary

VMC:
The Paramedic functions as a member of the care team and participates in the care of ill and injured patients. Responsibilities include patient care, incorporating stabilization, and intervention techniques consistent with standards and protocols approved by the Medical Director. The Paramedic functions as part of a team and shares responsibility for the team's conduct. The Paramedic fulfills education skill requirements as established by the Medical Director, and performs other duties as assigned.

EastCare:
The Transport Paramedic function as a member of the ALS transport team and is responsible for the care of the ill and injured patients transported by Vidant EastCare. Responsibilities include patient care, incorporating assessment, stabilization, and intervention techniques consistent with standards and protocols approved by the Medical Director. The Transport Paramedic is expected to execute independent judgment, in order to deliver appropriate care that is consistent with the clinical protocols, when contact with a medical command physician is not possible. The Transport Paramedic functions as part of a team and shares responsibility for the team's conduct. The Transport Paramedic fulfills education and experiential requirements as established by the Vidant EastCare Medical Director, and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • VMC Paramedic: Graduate from an approved Paramedic program is required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support, Current certification by the State of North Carolina as a Paramedic is required (EMT-P Certification)
  • Additional EastCare: ACLS and PALS prior to completing orientation
