Infection Preventionist

Swedish is looking for an Infection Preventionist (1.0 FTE, Day Shift) in Infection Prevention at Swedish Shared Services in Seattle, WA.

The Infection Preventionist 1 (IP1) is the entry-level position for Infection Prevention. A candidate for the IP1 position must have a sufficient healthcare background but requires only basic infection prevention/epidemiology knowledge, as the majority of training will occur on the job.

All Infection Preventionists (IPs) are accountable for implementation of and compliance with policies, practices, and processes of the infection prevention program at the region and system level. In collaboration with the IP program director, IP medical director, and IP peers, all IPs will follow all current local, state, and federal guidelines, standards, and regulations.

Infection Preventionists provide infection prevention consultative services focused on providing the higest quality care at the lowest cost to patient and organization.

In this position you will:

• Develop strong relationships with colleagues from key departments, including: Environmental Services, Emergency Preparedeness, Pharmacy, Nursing Leadership, Surgery Leadership, Safety, Central Services, Quality, Medical Affairs, Facility Maintenance and Construction, Laboratory, Risk Management, Patient Safety, Linen Services, and Materials Management.
• Demonstrate understanding of high reliability principles through use of tools, tones, and behaviors that promote patient safety.
• Demonstrate understanding of regulatory and advisory guidelines through application.
• Utilize and synthesize scientific evidence for decision making and intervention planning.
• Effectively apply surveillance definitions and gather relevant surveillance data.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

• Bachelors Degree in Laboratory Science, Nursing, Public Health, or other health-related field
• Three (3) years healthcare or public health experience

Preferred qualification for this position includes:

• Master's Degree in Laboratory Science, Nursing, Public Health, or other health-related field
