Sleep Technologist Registered - Sleep Lab

Swedish Health Services is looking for a full time Sleep Technologist Registered (0.6 FTE, Day Shift) for Sleep Lab at Swedish Redmond Campus at Redmond, WA.

The Sleep Technologist performs comprehensive adult and pediatric polysomnographic testing, analysis, patient care and education, and associated interventions including diagnostic and therapeutic services such as CPAP, Bi-level, ASV, and O2 titration, under the general oversight of the Lab Supervisor, Manager, Director, or designee. A Polysomnographic Technologist can also provide oversight and training of other staff.

In this position you will:

• Pre-test: Gathers and analyzes patient information: verifies medical order and protocol; completes and verifies documentation; and orients patient and explains procedures; uses excellent judgment in interpreting and clarifying orders; assesses risks and intervenes appropriately.
• Testing preparation procedures: calibrates recording equipment and prepares ancillary equipment; applies electrodes and sensors according to accepted standards; fits therapeutic masks; performs physiological calibrations and ensures proper and expected signals; able to troubleshoot problems independently.
• Polysomnographic procedures: follows procedural protocols to ensure collection of appropriate data; follows “lights out” procedures to establish/document baseline data; continuously monitors tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact free and make necessary adjustments; prompt and accurate documentation; document signal abnormalities and take appropriate action; document routine observations, changes in procedure, and significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of PSG results; follows “lights on” procedures to verify integrity of collected data; and performs unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.
• Data processing: Score sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines; scores clinical events according to current guidelines; generates an accurate report by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event; processes information post-test; completes shift-end report as needed.
• Other Sleep Program duties: Attends mandatory meetings and in-services; work with patients regarding CPAP initiation and compliance; conduct ambulatory screening and diagnostic tests; promote the sleep program; conduct IP studies in departments outside the Sleep Center; participate in quality improvement initiatives, supply inventory par level monitoring, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

• Documented proficiency of all competencies required of a Polysomnographic Technologist.
• Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.
• Must obtain and provide management with proof of certification and required CECs to maintain current registered status.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers required at time of hire from American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network (MTN).

About the Redmond Campus

The Redmond center encompasses nearly 85,000 square feet of space on three floors. It has 18 emergency exam rooms, open and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week; an advanced diagnostic imaging center (with X-ray, mammography, ultrasound, CT scan and MRI), staffed by partners from Seattle Radiology; an on-site laboratory; and offices for primary- and specialty-care providers.
