The Sterile Processing Technician Lead is responsible for coordinating surgical instruments for specific surgical procedures, responding to specific requests from the Operating Room and Cardiovascular Surgery, maintenance of the instrument repair function and the decontamination, prepping, packaging and sterilization of all instrumentation processed through the department following established department procedures. Acts as preceptor, mentor and resource in support of department team members.
Required specific skills:
• Knowledge of decontamination processes, preparation, and packaging
• Sterilization techniques based on manufacturer recommendations
• Storage of sterilized items
Required experience includes 1 year hospital and 1 year instrument
