ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision of the nursing supervisor, provide services to the faculty members and medical staff in the Dermatology practice. Major functions include patient treatments and surgical set-up. QualificationsRequired: Knowledge of medical terminology to record pre-admit diagnosis on admissions forms. Skill in writing grammatically correct routine business correspondence such as brief transmittal memoranda. Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical reports to explain patient progress and charting. Skill in reading English words, simple sentences and numbers on documents so they can properly be compiled and filed. Skill in reading medical documents, such as correspondence from health professionals. Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information; explain policies and procedures; and explain medical treatment procedures. Skill in speaking and with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds to explain policies, procedures and treatment in the Dermatology Clinic. Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly using correct English receive and route phone calls. Skill in fostering a stimulating, accepting learning environment. Skill in working as part of a team; collaborating with other staff members. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff. Skill in supervising nursing staff including: organizing work flow to accomplish established objectives; delegating responsibility; training new employees; evaluating staff performance; and administering necessary discipline. Skill in analyzing information, problem situations, practices or procedures to define the problem or objective and formulate logical and objective conclusions. Skill in coordinating nursing staff needs by determining each area of the Division of Dermatology needs. Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature. Skill in performing under the stress of frequent interruptions and/or distractions. Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities. Skill in working independently and following throughout on assignments with minimal direction. Knowledge of operating and maintaining standard surgical medical equipment. Knowledge of the tunable dye laser and CO2 laser. Knowledge of surgical instruments. Knowledge of surgical dressing application. Ability and knowledge of blood drawing from patients. Knowledge of UCLA forms for purchasing, patient admissions, etc. Ability to keep a running inventory. Knowledge of dermatologic terminology and diseases condition sufficient to communicate treatment status with patients and their families, medical faculty and staff, and other health professionals. Current CPR certificate. Venipuncture Certificate. Medical Assistant diploma/certificate from an authorized program by the Department of Education or post-secondary institution accredited or approved by the bureau of Private Post-Secondary and Vocational education in the Department of Consumer Affairs.
