ResponsibilitiesThe department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a Per Diem Clinical Lab Scientist to join their BURL Outreach Clinical Laboratory located in Panorama City. Responsibilities include: Method development-modification-parallel testing, collaboration on or independent preparation of abstracts or manuscripts, repair of laboratory instruments, sample processing, reagent preparation, data entry and phlebotomy duties. Perform STAT and routine tests in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, infectious diseases analysis, routine coagulation. Operate laboratory instruments and develop/maintain records of instrument maintenance and quality control being performed. Prepare written reports and/or technical summaries. Perform various quality control tasks and computations and assist management with quality programs. Record keeping and document control systems, collection and collation of data, tracking laboratory compliance. Laboratory equipment maintenance QualificationsRequired Qualifications A current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License. Recent demonstrated technical competence in high volume chemistry/hematology required. Must have working knowledge of lab safety and test methodologies used in chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, infectious disease testing. Skill in practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to be used in making reagents and in performing calculations. Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with personnel in the section, laboratory and ancillary medical areas. Under conditions of frequent interruptions, distractions and heavy workload while maintaining equanimity, accuracy and productivity. Able to work in an environment with variations in temperature, instrument noise, usage of toxic or hazardous chemicals, fumes, odors and biological agents and interaction with sick patients. Able to perform activities such as moving equipment for repair; transportation of reagents, blood products, or supplies, pipetting, etc. as required. Able to perform repetitive tasks (i.e. computer data entry). Preferred Qualifications: Minimum three years of recent experience performing testing in a high volume testing laboratory. Abnormal hematology experience. Knowledge and experience with Diasorin Liaison and Premier HPLC methodology. Recent demonstrated technical competence in high volume chemistry/hematology. Knowledge and experience with Sysmex XN3000; Roche Cobas C6000 and C8000; Stago STAR Max; IRIS Arkray IriCell Urinalysis workstation, Centrifuge, Analytical Balance, and pH meter.
