CHILD LIFE SPECIALIST ( Job Number: 194368 ) Description The Child Life Specialist II is responsible for implementing a psychosocially and developmentally supportive program for hospitalized children and families. Provides appropriate guidance for volunteers and students. The child life specialist is a member of the pediatric health care team who focuses on the emotional and developmental needs of children using therapeutic and developmental play experiences which help children and families maintain normal life patterns, prevent significant developmental disruption, and mitigate psychological distress throughout their health care experience. The child life specialist acts as an advocate for children and their families with the hospital and uses their knowledge of child development to enhance the hospital environment for pediatric patients. Must have already completed a child life internship under the direction of a Certified Child Life Specialist. This is a PRN position. The hours for this position are going to vary Qualifications Certifications and Licensures Required CCLS (Child Life) Education Required Bachelor's Child Life Or Bachelor's Early Childhood Education Or Bachelor's Child Development Or Bachelor's Recreational Therapy Or Bachelor's Psychology Experience Required 1 year Internship Preferred 1 year Clinical Related Specific Skills Required Collaborate and work with a team Required Medical terminology use and understanding Required Work independently Required Work with minimal supervision Required Written and verbal communication skills Required Computer skills appropriate to position Required Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills Organization : 5100-ST JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL INC Primary Location : FL-Tampa-St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital of Tampa Schedule : Varies Shift : Variable Shift Hours : Variable Weekend Work : Occasional On Call : No Employment Status : ACTIVE PRN Equal Opportunity Employer Veterans/Disabled
