Job Details Location: St. Joseph, MI Department: Sleep Lab SJ - Manager Patient Care Services Status: Part time Shift: Night (United States of America) Hours: As Needed, Night Shift Job Summary Under the general supervision of the Manager, performs all aspects of sleep procedures for Lakeland Regional Health System. • Independently perform all procedures in the Sleep Center department. • Apply suitable electrodes and other recording devices to the patient and checks their performance. • Perform pretest calibration and makes necessary adjustments to the recording instrument. • Select the appropriate recording montage necessary for the case under study. Obtain a high quality recording, recognizing artifacts and taking steps to eliminate them. • Describe in technical notes any clinical events pertinent to the study. Obtain the patient’s cooperation to enhance test results. • Keep equipment in proper working order, performs routine maintenance, detects equipment malfunctions, makes minor repairs, and reports problems to lead technologist. • Perform clerical duties such as filing reports and tracings, logs patient studies and forwards billing information. • Participate in the Quality Assurance program by identifying opportunities for operational improvement. • Participate in the goal setting process for polysomnographic services. Ensure appropriate follow through to accomplish the goals. • Maintain commitment to professional growth by attending continuing education programs. • Participate in special projects as assigned. • Perform other duties as assigned. • Committed to the continuous improvement of the patient experience which includes patient safety, quality of care and excellent service. Adhere to the organization’s published values. Requirements: License/Registration/Certification Preferred: Board eligible or certified/registered by applicable Board (ABSM, NBRC, BRPT, AASM. Minimum Education Required: High school diploma or GED with a strong background in science courses. Minimum Experience Required: At least one year experience in sleep medicine, which includes testing and scoring. Successful completion of one year training period under qualified supervision in sleep medicine. Must have analytical abilities necessary to resolve technical equipment problems, relate test results to normal disease states, and interpret quality control data. Work involves high degree of resourcefulness, independent judgment, initiative. Must have knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Basic computer, data entry, typing, filing and organization skills required. • Abilities: Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, extended shifts and/or extra shifts, various locations, sometimes on short notice. • Environmental Conditions: Potential exposure to fumes, dust, gases, and odors. Frequent changes in temperature may occur. Possibility of exposure to communicable diseases.
