Performs clinical and administrative duties in an Ambulatory setting consistent with policies and procedures. Works under the supervision of a physician and performs patient triage, venipuncture, laboratory testing, patient follow up, and assisting providers with patient exams. Also performs and transmits X-ray diagnostic images. This position documents as appropriate in the medical records and supports optimal patient flow. Ability to work with 4 or more Specialty areas as needed. Must have knowledge base of multispecialty areas and high degree of flexibility and willingness to learn.
EDUCATION: Completion of an approved R.T. Program, Associates degree preferred. Completion of an approved Medical Assistant program is a plus.
EXPERIENCE: Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting; 2+ years of Medical Office experience strongly preferred; experience working with electronic medical records preferred.
LICENSE/CERT/REG: ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification; Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland required. CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
In addition to ARRT, a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) by American Association of Medical Assistants or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) through American Medical Technologies is preferred.
SKILLS: Clinical competency as verified during the initial 90 day orientation period and annually thereafter. Excellent customer service/patient interaction skills; computers and electronic medical record skills and ability to function in a variable multi-specialty clinical setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to multitask and work with several physicians in different specialties. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
