Under the leadership of the Director and/or Team Lead, the Application Specialist I is responsible for the ongoing design, build, testing, validation and ongoing support of mission critical application(s). In addition, this position requires the ability to interact with clients and demonstrate basic critical thinking and follow through skills when developing solutions to identified issues. Perform other duties as needed. Job Specifications: Basic knowledge of the business/operational area supported by application. Knowledge and understanding of related Information Technology trends and applications. Basic knowledge of clinical or business/revenue cycle workflow in healthcare. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Basic knowledge of project management software such as MS Project, Access, and other project management tools for task tracking and team collaboration efforts. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Ability to deal effectively with people and elicit support from other department areas, vendors, and customers. Excellent analytic, communication, and documentation skills. Solid organizational skills including familiarity with the usage of project planning tools and Project Management Methodologies. Able to organize technical work; demonstrate planning, problem solving, analysis, documentation, presentation and organization skills; analyze and interpret data, processes and needs based on limited information with minimal guidance; organize work and resources; define problems and solutions, prioritize work load; make recommendations; manage time effectively and plan and implement objectives effectively with minimal guidance. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with good personal time management skills and ability to multi-task with limited oversight. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position. Must have a Bachelor's degree and 0-1 years of relevant Healthcare or Information Technology experience or have a High school diploma and at least three years of relevant Healthcare or Information Technology experience. As a requirement of this position you must complete Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) Proficiency within the designated application(s) and/or module(s) you are hired into. Must receive a cumulative passing score on the associated Epic projects and exams and receive a passing score within three attempts on the associated Epic exams and projects. This LLUH proficiency must be achieved within the initial 90 day probationary period. For non-Epic systems similar certification requirements may apply, and will be discussed during the application and hiring process. May be required to work weekends and holidays to resolve urgent production problems.
